Welcome! I am Gabriela (she|her|hers), and I provide therapy to adults navigating their journey in life.

I enjoy seeing my clients utilize learned techniques that support them in reducing negative thoughts, increasing effective communication, and remembering their self-worth.

I aim to create an environment to aid in navigating various issues. I use a collaborative approach to hold space for self-reflection, clarity in exploring cultural and personal values, and increase self-love. Utilizing small and meaningful changes that are measurable, we'll work toward uplifting and improving mood. Being human is complex, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. Give yourself the gift of time.

As a Woman of Color, I have learned that to support my Chinese Mexican children, my lens has to acknowledge the systems and structures that impact families during life's journey. I enjoy seeing my clients stay true to the richness of their cultures and honor their values despite the messages received from the dominant culture and thrive.

Life transitions

It wouldn’t be life without some changes along the way. Moving, role changes, going to college, relationships, career changes, becoming a caregiver, etc., are all examples of life transitions that can be bothersome to you. Therapy can provide you with space and time to validate your emotions and experiences.

While depression is common, it is also unpleasant. Common symptoms include isolation, lack of energy, lack of interest or motivation, tearfulness, unhappiness, etc. Being human is complex, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. Give yourself the gift of time so that you can learn techniques that can support you in reducing negative thoughts, increasing effective communication, and rediscovering what brings you joy.

Anxiety is the mind and body working overtime. It can look and feel different for everyone. Common symptoms include irritability, repeating thoughts, constant worries about your health or future, etc. Common physiological symptoms include headaches, stomachaches, disturbance with sleep, etc. Therapy can support you in learning grounding and mindfulness techniques to help you cope more effectively. You don’t have to do this alone, and you deserve compassion.

Transitioning to parenthood is life-changing. The daily demands of parenting can leave us feeling imbalanced. Therapy provides an excellent opportunity for self-reflection that can lead to growth & create a time to heal your inner child. Other common focus areas include reflective parenting, managing expectations, limits, and boundary setting, and repairing within the parent-child relationship. Parenting is hard, and you don’t have to do this alone and you deserve support. If you want to shift from control to connectedness and cooperation, therapy with me might be for you.

Pregnancy and its journey can propose various challenges.Therapy can provide you with the space to explore how your values and culture influence the way you want to show up for yourself and support you in finding the meaning to your emotions. Other common focus areas include birth trauma, grief, and loss, overcoming "mom guilt," grief & loss, and marital/relationship stress.

The truth is...

Navigating information from the dominant culture, family, friends, co-parenting, and social-media feels overwhelming and confusing.

You don’t have to do this alone and you deserve support.

Brainspotting is defined as an advanced brain-body therapy that focuses on identifying, processing, and releasing trauma, mental health imbalances and residual emotional stress. It is based on the premise that ‘where you look affects how you feel’ and finds that eye positions correlate with unconscious, emotional experiences. When you focus on an eye position related to an upsetting issue, you release the emotional and physical stress within the issue. Brainspotting reaches parts of the brain that are not generally accessed in traditional talk therapy and most other types of therapy.

Brainspotting therapy supports the reprocessing of negative experiences and retrains emotional reactions. Both approaches include bilateral stimulation, compassionate attunement and brain-body processing.
